Rome, countdown to Thompson by Hyatt's Italian debut: opening this spring

A little less than two years after the announcement, the time has finally come for the Thompson brand to make its Italian debut. The Hyatt -owned brand is about to open the doors of Thompson Rome by Hyatt, designed by AG Group and Rossfin Group and housed in the glorious former headquarters of the Italian Communist Party on Via delle Botteghe Oscure.

The hotel—the brand's second in Europe after Madrid —will be a five-star , offering 69 rooms and a concept that combines urban energy and contemporary design. Located in the historic center and overlooking Piazza Venezia , a symbolic landmark of the city and ideally positioned for reaching the most important attractions—from the Colosseum to the Pantheon, and the Trevi Fountain—Thompson Rome by Hyatt will enhance one of its most scenic features: the panoramic rooftop, designed to experience Rome from above, with aperitifs, cocktails, and cosmopolitan evenings.

Alongside the panoramic terrace , the project includes a varied gastronomic offering that combines research, atmosphere, and a desire for sociability, with the ambition of establishing itself as a new hub not only for hotel guests, but also for the Roman public attentive to novelties and the most distinctive places.

"Thompson Rome will be born as something that didn't exist in Rome: a place of rare refinement, where every space breathes, vibrates, and tells a story,” a statement reads. “The interiors will be sophisticated without ostentation, elegant yet profoundly familiar. Welcoming like a beloved home, beyond passing fads, never overly affective, never rigidly uniform. A rare balance between beauty and soul, between style and warmth.”
